We Walk Together

We walk together,
    You and I
We put on a front of strength and bravado
After some time, it becomes real.

We walk together,
    You and I
We play, and
        see the world through
        each other’s eyes
            sometimes

We walk together
Others join
    Wanderers, Adventurers
We make some futures
We join and put on a front
    of reckless insouciance
After some time, it becomes real.

We see the world through many eyes
    and through our own
and we imagine other worlds
and other ideas
    and we walk together
        a million abreast
            a billion

We give life
    as we go
and we see it
    through each other’s eyes
        and our own

We walk together.
